Why do we do it?
We are mothers, Childbirth Educators, Doulas and Midwives who care about the physical, mental and emotional welfare of families in Malaysia. We believe that birth should be a healthy and normal practice and should not be over-medicalised and over intervened with.
We believe that birth is normal, natural and healthy. It is NOT an illness. We believe that the mother should play a CENTRAL ROLE in her pregnancy and birth. Families should never be forced to accept a medical intervention without first knowing the full benefits and risks involved.
Families have a right to make INFORMED DECISIONS surrounding the births of their babies. Unfortunately, accurate information is not easily obtainable from typical hospital/ clinic settings and careproviders. Therefore, this group aims to fill that gap and enable families to make informed decisions after considering all their choices and alternatives.
We believe that families who choose to birth in a hospital/ medical facility are CONSUMERS. And they have a right to demand that their wishes for natural, comfortable birthing be respected and honoured by their careproviders (doctor/ midwife). The more Moms and Dads requesting that their wish for a gentle birth be respected, the more likely hospitals and careproviders will take note. And only then can the maternal healthcare system and birthing climate in KL improve. Maternal and infant health and well-being will improve in the long run, resulting in healthy, happy mothers and babies and a more harmonious, peaceful society.
We believe that Peace on Earth begins with Birth!

Who are we?
We, members of The Gentle Birthing Group Malaysia, are all very passionate about birth and the birth experience, and want to share our knowledge and experiences in order to improve birth for mothers and babies everywhere.
We all give our time freely as we believe a gentle birth experience will result in happier babies, healthier mothers, stronger families and in the end, a better world for all of us.
We are a non-profit, non-government organization supporting and educating families wanting a gentle birth for their children
We also offer information and education on gentle parenting approaches
We advocate for improvements in maternity care in Malaysia and seek to work with the Ministry of Health, the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM), and with Obgyns and other medical staff both in government and private practice
